Be a LEADer. Be a part of LEAD New York.
Applications for Class 18 are now available and due by March 1, 2019. Click on the sprout for the online application:
LEAD participants are selected through a competitive application process by the program board of directors. After an initial review of the application materials in early March, a selection committee interviews selected applicants in late March at several locations throughout the state. After those face-to-face interviews, the selection committee recommends a slate of nominees to the board of directors at their April meeting. Once approved, successful candidates are offered a position in the next class by May 1st.
Prospective applicants wanting more information about the program are encouraged to review the "Current Class" page of this website. There you will find a class roster, schedule, syllabus and sample agendas for each of our seminars. While exact dates of seminars, seminar content and other particulars may vary slightly from class to class, the current class materials will give you a good idea of what to expect.
You may wish to share the following Program Brochure and Sample Schedule with your employer/business partner and spouse/partner so that they fully understand the commitment you will be asked to make should you be selected for the program.
Our tuition for Class 18 is $2400 for year 1 (Leadership Fundamentals) and $3500 for year 2 (LEAD Fellows); $5900 for the total program. In addition to the tuition fee, there are a few out-of-pocket expenses in the program: an occasional book we ask you to read (but these can also be borrowed from a library), travel to and from in-state sessions (we cover all of your out-of-state travel, including bus and airfare expenses), an occasional meal out of pocket (but most meals are group meals that we pay for). So, the bottom line is that besides the tuition charge, there is very little additional expenses to participate in the program.
If you are employed by someone else or share your business with another person, a statement of support is required. Supply the appropriate person with information about the LEAD New York program and a sample calendar of workshops. The statement may be sent in with the application or mailed separately.
In order to get the most out of the program, we ask for the commitment and support from family members. Please discuss this with your spouse/partner/family and have them sign the statement of support, if applicable. The statement may be sent in with the application or mailed separately.
Ask three individuals with personal knowledge of your leadership abilities and potential to submit a letter of recommendation in your support. These individuals should be given a recommendation form, Program Brochure and Sample Schedule.
Deadline for letters of recommendations is March 1, 2019.
