We're all in this together

New York state's more than 55,000 farmworkers play critical roles sustaining the local and global food supply. To help protect farmworkers and slow the spread of COVID-19 in rural New York, the Cornell Farmworker Program is providing essential information to keep workers and their families safe. To date we have responded to over 400 farmworker family requests for support during the COVID pandemic in 21 NYS counties as well as Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Washington and Puerto Rico.

Face masks

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the use of cloth face coverings as a way to slow the spread of the virus. To help in that effort, volunteers coordinated by the Cornell Farmworker Program have handsewn more than 7,500 cloth masks for New York farmworkers.

Want to get involved? To donate cloth masks, mail them to:

The program and our partners are coordinating delivery to farmworkers and local farms. Those deliveries include information on where and how to access local health resources, and how to join a Q&A call with a medical doctor.

We offer information in English, Spanish and indigenous languages, such as the Mayan language Mam. Check out our Spanish-language site and other resources below.
