CALS NYS Internship Fall Forum
The CALS NYS Internship Program--a collaboration between Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and CaRDI--wrapped up its 2015 cycle with the third annual Fall Forum. The event featured poster presentations from each of this year’s eight participating students. The students used the time to describe their internship positions, their community engagement projects, and what they learned over the summer. Representatives from the host communities and host employers attended to support their interns.
This year, we were pleased that the Dean of CALS, Dr. Kathryn Boor, offered opening remarks for the event. CALS Dean Kathryn Boor met with each student individually prior to the forum, learning about their career and community-related experiences and the wide-ranging program impacts. The Dean offered introductory remarks to the forum audience of internship hosts, community partners, faculty, students and other guests, recognizing the internship program as “an innovative approach to experiential learning that also delivers on the university’s land grant mission.” The event was covered in a Cornell Chronicle article, “Summer interns enhance life in New York communities.”
The CALS NYS Internship Program is one of three internship programs through which CaRDI provides students with engaged learning opportunities.
